1st Dec 2015

Here at SiliconeHose.com, your source for quality silicone hose design, we're with you 100% of the way. Whether you need some basic silicone hosing for your homebrewing setup or you're looking to get some custom silicone hoses made, we've got you covered. Today we're going to specifically look at some pros and cons of using silicone radiator hoses as they're a popular alternative to rubber hoses.

Pros

Silicone hoses are easier to remove. Plus, they're much easier to attach to the different radiator components than rubber hoses. In addition, they're much less likely to get stuck to the radiator components compared to rubber hosing. Rubber hosing can sometimes become bonded to various ports or vents on the radiator.

Silicone hoses are also much more aesthetically pleasing. This is one of the primary reasons why people choose silicone over rubber hosing. Why? Silicone hosing has a metallic sheen. This gives a more appealing look and helps to enhance the overall appearance of your vehicle - especially under the hood.

Cons

Silicone hosing can be more expensive but you are also paying for what you get. If you don't change the hoses on your vehicle on a regular basis or if you're looking to upgrade the appearance of your vehicle, then this is likely worth your money. However, if you're looking to keep costs down, silicone hoses probably aren't the right choice for you.

Silicone hoses also require different hose clamps as the hose walls tend to be thicker than those of rubber hoses. This means that if you're replacing rubber hoses with silicone ones on your vehicle, you're gonna need to purchase new hose clamps, too.
